Hillary Loans Self Another $6.4 Mil
The Clinton campaign confirms that Hillary Clinton has again dipped into her and Bill’s personal
fortune to fund her limping presidential campaign, this time to the tune of $6.425 million.
She loaned herself $5 million just before the key Feb. 5 Super Tuesday contests, and Clinton is now in debt to herself by a staggering $11.4 million.
After dropping North Carolina by a large margin to Barack Obama and narrowly winning Indiana last night, Clinton’s campaign insists she’s not digging into her own pocket out of desperation.
“It shows her committment to the campaign and makes sure that we have the resources we need to keep going through all the remaining states and Puerto Rico,” said spokesman Mo Elleithee.
Clinton raided her own bank account on April 11 for $5 million to push on to her 9-point win in Pennsylvania, and in spite of raising $10 million online after her Keystone State win, dipped into her personal funds again for $1 million on May 1.
Faced with a surge of pre-election day TV spending by Obama, on May 5 she siphoned out another $425,000.
