Minnisota Senate OKs Later Bar Closing During GOP Convention

Get ready to pop the corks: The Senate today approved a bill authorizing local governments in the Twin Cities metro area to push back bar closing time until 4 a.m. during the Republican National Convention.

The bill passed the Senate on a vote of 42-20 with no debate, said sponsor Sen. Linda Scheid, DFL-Brooklyn Park. Scheid said she believed that an earlier informational session for legislators had quelled concerns about enforcing the expanded hours and the ability of local jurisdictions to regulate it.
