Clinton Campaign, Hillary’s Not Seeking No. 2 Spot

Hillary Rodham Clinton, who announced Thursday she will suspend her campaign and endorse Barack Obama as Democratic presidential nominee, “is not seeking the vice presidency,” her campaign said in a statement.
The statement did not categorically rule out accepting the position, if offered, but rather appeared to be an effort to tamp down any effort to try to pressure Obama over the issue.
“She is not seeking the vice presidency and no one speaks for her but her,” her campaign said in a statement said. “The choice here is Sen. Obama’s and his alone.”
At least one of her closest supporters, Lanny Davis, has established a website to try to build public support behind her selection for the No. 2 spot on the ticket. Davis has said, however, that he was acting on his own.
