Ohio Family Forced To Scrimp On Food

Say What!

For Some Ohioans, Even Meat Is Out Of Reach (but not to far for a fork to reach it)

Angelica Hernandez (left) and her mother, Gloria Nunez, struggle to buy food.

She says she finds it hard to find a job. Even if she could, she says it’s particularly hard to imagine how she’ll keep it. She says she needs someone to give her a lift just to get to an interview. And with gas prices so high, she’s not sure she could afford to pay someone to drive her to work every day.

People tell Nunez her daughter could get more money in public assistance if she had a child.

“A lot of people have told me, ‘Why don’t your daughter have a kid?’”

  1. Yes they look like they will suffer now from not having ice cream. Hard times might do America good. We have become a whining , corpulent, self-indulgent country . I am a naturalized citizen and it amazes me how people take for granted the amazing opportunities they have here. Trying is a dirty word, whether it is to better yourself physically, spiritually and educationally. Maybe we do need to get worse and cull the herd. And yeah! I am neither white nor a male and I voted conservative. This is a great country and I am proud to be American but moments like this create an awkward moment of embarrassment for me.

  2. I have to congratulate them on not having a kid to get assistance.
